John Stossel

John Frank Stossel (born March 6, 1947) is an advocacy reporter, author, television host, and libertarian columnist. He worked as an investigative reporter for the ABC television program 20/20. He has also written two books - Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists and Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media and Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity: Get Out the Shovel — Why Everything You Know Is Wrong.

In 1985, Stossel was physically assaulted by professional wrestler David Shultz after he asked Shultz if wrestling was fake. Stossel proceeded to sue the World Wrestling Federation, and won $425,000 in damages. [1]

Stossel opposes the Minimum wage, corporate welfare, bailouts, and the War in Iraq. He also opposes legal prohibitions against Pornography, Marijuana, recreational drug use, Gambling, ticket sclaping, Prostitution, Polygamy, and Assisted Suicide and believes most abortions should be legal. He advocates lower and simpler taxes, and has endorced or explored various ideas in his specials and his TV series for changing the tax system, including switching to a Flat tax, and replacing the income tax, with the FairTax.

In 2009, Stossel announced he was leaving ABC for Fox News Channel. Until 2016, John hosted his own TV Program on the Fox Business Network called "stossel" where he would talk about hot topics. In 2016 he also hosted the first televised Libertarian debate in the 2016 US Elections featuring the likes of Gary Johnson and John McAfee. The program stopped after Stossel retired from his role as a TV host. He currently creates videos for the City Journal Quarterly magazine and the ReasonTV arm of Reason Magazine as well as videos on his own YouTube channel.
