Kobe is a Japanese port city located in the island of Honshu. It is part of the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto metropolitan area and currently has a population of over 1.5 million people.

On January 15, 1995, much of Kobe was wrecked by one of the biggest earthquakes in Japanese history. About 6000 people were killed and over 300,000 lost their homes.

The Karaoke inventor, Daisuke Inoue, in 1971 leases the first set of karaoke machines to nightspots in Kobe.

Kobe is known as a city having a unique style with the exotic atmosphere in Japan, which has been affected by the foreign cultures and flourished as the international port since old days.[1]
