Loess

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Loess is a type of soil derived form glacial deposits. It consists of fine, yellow silt. Loess soil is extremely friable (crumbly) and susceptible to erosion by rainfall, flooding and high winds. Silt from the Loess Plateau of north-west China, carried along by the Yellow River, has given that river its distinctive name.
