Population statistics

Lorikeet refers to several genera of small to medium-sized birds related to parrots, and found in far southeastern Asia, Australia, many islands comprising Polynesia. Called either "lory" or "lorikeet", depending on the length and shape of the tail, lorikeets bear a brush-shaped tongue which they use to feed on the pollen and nectar of flowers.

Species[edit]

Lories[edit]

These birds are commonly referred to as "lories" to differentiate from lorikeets; the dissimilarity being a shorter, wedge-shaped tail.

Lorikeets[edit]

Birds with a longer tail, reminiscent of parakeets.
