Malpractice is the failure, in providing professional services, to exercise the degree of skill and care generally exercised by like professionals under similar circumstances. This term is usually, but not always, applied to such conduct by doctors, lawyers, and accountants.

Defined another way, malpractice is any professional misconduct.
