Manager (baseball)

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

In baseball, the manager (occasionally specified as the field manager) is responsible for all in-game strategy and decision making. The job is equivalent to head coach in other sports.

In-game decisions include when to make pitching changes, whether the batter should swing away or bunt, and whether a runner should attempt to steal a base. Depending on the level of experience of his pitcher or catcher, the manager may even choose to call pitches during the game, although those duties are often delegated to the pitcher and catcher, or even the pitching coach.
