Manetho was an Egyptian historian who lived in the 3rd century BC. He wrote a chronicle in Greek of all the pharaohs of Egypt, which only survives in quotations from later writers (Josephus, Julius Africanus, and Eusebius). He wrote of all of the rulers from Menes to Artaxerxes III breaking them down into 30 dynasties. His chronology is inaccurate and exaggerated based upon other sources, but his dynasty structure is still used today.^[1]
