Manila is the capital of Philippines. The city is built on the island of Luzon.[1] Manila has a population of 1,581,082 and a land area of 38.55 km². Tagalog language is predominant around Manila.[2] The city has several tourist attractions and is a cultural center in the country.[3] Malacanang Palace is a major tourist attraction in the city.[4] It is the former residence of the Marcos family[4] and at present the residence of the President of the Philippines.
