The Mauryan Empire (321 to 185 B.C.) was an ancient Indian Empire that covered the modern day states of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh. It was founded by Chandragupta Maurya. Ashoka, the advocate of Buddhism, was the third emperor of this dynasty.
