Maverick Republicans are those who challenge The Establishment. They tend to compete with other for the same group of voters who are disenchanted with the leadership of the Republican Party. The overall support for Maverick Republicans reached a record 65% after the second 2016 presidential debate.

As these four candidates fight for the 65% of voters who want to support a Maverick Republican, they will increasingly criticize each other, and perhaps run negative ads against each other. There is a likelihood, however, that the 65% support for a maverick will shrink to only 30% or so by February 2016, leaving these four candidates struggling for a smaller and smaller pie.
