Mead is a traditional Northern European drink made of honey, that has been brewed since the Bronze Age. Mead was considered to originate from the gods in Norse mythology, it was Kvasir's blood that was mixed with honey in the creation of the divine Mead of Poetry, also known as the Suttungr Brew.[1] It is typically a rather sweet and strong "wine" up to 20%abv.
In England mead was brewed in monasteries since the Middle Ages. The drink is closely associated with the Arthurian legend of the round table, in which it was typically drunk from a golden goblet, which matches its own amber colour.
