National Liberation Army (Colombia)

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 4 min

The National Liberation Army (Ejercito de Liberacion Nacional, ELN) is a Colombian Marxist organization. The organization was founded in 1964 by Fabio Vasquez Castaño. They are considered a terrorist organisation by the EU[1] and the U.S.[2] The ELN got its money from extortion. On September 4, 2017, the Colombian government signed a ceasefire deal with ELN, the last remaining guerrilla organization in the country.[3] This followed the government's peace deal with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Venezuela's Marxist government under Nicolas Maduro, however, provided shelter for the ELN.[4]
