This page is about the Orange (fruit) For the orange (color) see Orange (color).

An orange is an edible citrus fruit that grows on trees, is juicy, and high in vitamin C. Juice from the orange is also a popular drink, and is often served with breakfast. Oranges were first introduced to Florida, where orange trees frequently dot the landscape, by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon in the 16th century. Oranges are grown in great swathes across California, particularly in Orange county. Oranges are also grown in large numbers in the Central Valley area of California. According to the USDA, in 2010, 93 million 40 pound cartons of Navel Oranges were produced in California, with an average of 418 oranges per tree.[1] Today, the largest producers of oranges are Brazil and the United States, with Florida, California, and Texas [2] as the highest orange producing states.[3] The orange blossom is the state flower of Florida.[4]
