Phenomenology is the study of the development of human consciousness and awareness, and the processes of interpreting and understanding experience of oneself, of natural concrete phenomena and of one's relationship to the world and the universe, and the possibility (if any) of knowing with certainty the reality of existence external to one's own perceptions. It examines the possibility that experience mediated through the physical senses is or is not correspondent to reality, and the question of whether or not an accurate interpretation of experience is possible or is fundamentally an illusion of interpretation of sensory experiences confined to the brain.
