The Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American alternative rock band which was formed in 1983. Since then, the band has gone on to release ten studio albums (five of which received Platinum status). Their current line-up consists of: Anthony Kiedis (vocals), John Frusciante (guitar, backing vocals), Flea (bass) and Chad Smith (drums). While the bass, drum and vocal line-up has been static for some time, they have had a number of guitarists, most notably Dave Navarro and John Frusciante. In 1991 they received a nomination for the Grammy Best Hard Rock Performance Award. In 2006 they received multiple awards for Stadium Arcadium. They first experienced mainstream success with Blood Sugar Sex Magik, with hit singles such as "Under The Bridge", "Give It Away", and "Breaking The Girl".
