Rosalind Weiss Berman, known as Rose Weiss (January 28, 1921 – August 22, 2019), was the costume director for the ABC and then syndicated musical television series, The Lawrence Welk Show. She designed wardrobes for all the performers during its entire run of the program from 1955 to 1982.[1]
She also designed costumes for the 40th Academy Awards on April 10, 1968, and Lawrence Welk's TV Treasures on PBS in 2007. She worked with Bob Hope too. Since 1989, PBS has rebroadcast Welk programs over many years, principally since color episodes were taped.[2]
Weiss resided in Los Angeles, California. Until his death in 2012, she was married to the Jewish businessman Bernard "Bernie" Berman, who was born in 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served in the United States Navy.[3] Weiss has two sons from a previous marriage, attorney Cary Bruce Weiss (born 1943) and Brian S. Weiss (born c. 1946), both of Los Angeles.[3][4]
