Royce Duplessis (born August 18, 1982),^[1] is an African-American attorney from New Orleans, Louisiana, who is a Democratic state representative for District 93, which encompasses the downtown, French Quarter, the Lower Garden District, and the Seventh Ward.

Duplessis formerly served for five years on the New Orleans Planning Commission, a year as an aide to a New Orleans City Council member, and as a special counsel to the Louisiana Supreme Court, which is based in New Orleans.^[2] In 2015, he was named to Xavier University's "40 Under 40", a reference to 40 individuals under the age of 40. He is a volunteer youth basketball coach.^[3]

Duplessis won the special election held on March 24, 2018, to choose a successor to Representative Helena Nancy Moreno, who resigned after winnin in 2017 an at-large seat on the city council. With 72 percent of the vote, Duplessis overwhelmed three intra-party challengers, the strongest of whom was Kenneth "Kenny" Bordes, a labor and civil rights lawyer.^[2] He listed his legislative priorities ss early childhood education, criminal justice reforms, and resources for mental health services/^[3]

In another special election held in District 86, Republican Nicholas Muscarello, Jr., an attorney from Hammond in Tangipahoa Parish, retained the seat for his party vacated by Chris Broadwater, who instead joined a state education agency.
