Saarland is one of the sixteen federal states (Bundesländer) of Germany. It is situated in the south-west of the federal republic and shares borders with France, Luxembourg and the neighboring federal state Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz) to the north.^[1]

The capital of Saarland is Saarbrücken.
