Safety (football)

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

A safety in American football results when a defensive player tackles an opposing offensive player with the football in the offensive team's end zone. For the tackle behind the goal-line, the defensive team is awarded two points. In addition, the offensive player can run out of bounds behind the goal line or down the ball himself to award a safety to the opposing team. A safety also results if a quarterback is called for intentional grounding while in the end zone.
