In cricket, the slips are the fielding positions approximately 2 metres to the left and right of the wicketkeeper. They usually catch the hits coming off the edge of the bat, and they are quite an important position to be fielding at.

The positions classified as "slips" can go up to the 9th slip - which would be all fielders (apart from bowler and wicketkeeper) in slips. This technique has only been used once in cricket history, when famous Australian cricketer Sir Donald Bradman ordered all his fielders in slips. Australia went on to win the game.

Commonly, only one fielder is put in slip, and it is uncommon for any more than 2 fielders to be in slips at one time.
