SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corporation) is a private American company which designs, produces, launches, and recovers spacecraft and rockets for use in space. Their purpose is to revolutionize technology for use in space, and ultimately on Mars. They hope to place a permanent colony on Mars by 2024. So far, the company has been quite successful, both in accomplishing its goals and making a profit.[1]
