From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Spokane is the second largest city in Washington state. Spokane is named after the Spokane Indian Tribe. The 2006 population was 201,600. It is located in eastern Washington and is about 18 miles from the Washington-Idaho border. The Spokane River runs through downtown Spokane and Mount Spokane is located to the Northeast.

The city is the home to Gonzaga University, a Jesuit-affiliated school whose men's basketball team is among the elite programs.
