Sushi is a Japanese dish, popular worldwide. It is made from raw fish served with vinegared rice and sometimes kelp.

Varieties of sushi[edit]

  • Nigiri-zushi ("finger sushi") - finger-shaped slices of fish placed over oblong rolls of rice.
  • Maki-zushi ("rolled sushi") - fish or vegetables rolled up into cylindrical shapes with rice.
  • Chirashi-zushi ("scattered sushi") - pieces of fish, roe, and vegetables scattered in a bowl.
