Tampere is the capital and biggest city of the Pirkanmaa region in southwestern Finland, with a population of 228,173 (2017) it's also the biggest city of the whole country outside the Greater Helsinki region. The city is located between two lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi.[1]
Nokia is a small town 15 kilometres (9 mi) west of Tampere with a population of 33,118 (2016). The telecommunications giant Nokia was founded in the town but headquarters have bin moved to Espoo in 2008. According to researchers, the name "Nokia" stems from a dark marten, the extinct sable, which can nowadays be seen only in the Nokia coat of arms.[2]
