Tea Party Nation was formed in 2009 by Tennessee lawyer Judson Phillips. Phillips' involvement with the Tea Party movement began with a rally that he organized in downtown Nashville in February 2009.[1] The organization got its start as a social network for conservatives. It quickly grew to have members in every state and in foreign countries.[2] Tea Party Nation is nationally recognized for hosting the 2010 National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, TN. The headline of the event was an address by Sarah Palin.

Per their website,

Tea Party Nation (or TPN) is a user-driven group of like-minded people who desire our God given Individual Freedoms which were written out by the Founding Fathers. We believe in Limited Government, Free Speech, the 2nd Amendment, our Military, Secure Borders and our Country!

National Tea Party Unity Convention[edit]

Originally scheduled for Las Vegas, July 2010,[3] this event was postponed until October 2010, and ultimately cancelled with "deep sorrow" by organizer Barbee Kinnison.[4] Big-name conservative speakers would have included Sharron Angle, Andrew Breitbart, Joseph Farah, Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingraham and Tom Tancredo.
