University of Portsmouth

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

The University of Portsmouth is a modern, "post-1992" university in Portsmouth, UK. Although a new university, it has a strong academic reputation in pharmacology, biosciences and advanced electronics. It is very popular with overseas students from both European countries, and further afield, particularly Commmonwealth countries, with a sizeable student body from Malaysia and Singapore.

The university social scene is notable for being one of the very few universities in the world to have an octopush club, a form of underwater hockey. This is unsurprising in a sea orientated city, and other unusual sports the student body organises include wakeboarding and "extreme frisbee", often played in the massive open expanses of Southsea Common.

The university is ranked 6th best in the country amongst the "modern" universities.
