Uriah the Hittite

From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Uriah the Hittite was married to Bathsheba and was one of King David's greatest fighting men. When David impregnated Bathsheba, he tried to bring Uriah back from the front line to spend time with his wife and cover up David's sin, but Uriah was too noble to seek comfort from his wife while his men were sleeping on the ground away from their families. David gave Uriah a sealed message to send back to the front lines—a message that ordered steps to be taken that would likely lead to Uriah's death. Uriah died as planned when the army pulled back at a crucial moment and he was left alone.

In II Samuel 23:39, Uriah is mentioned as one of the "mighty men".
