On April 16, 2007, a 23-year-old Korean and atheist immigrant studying English at Virginia Tech went on a murder spree that took the lives of 32 faculty and students. The perpetrator then turned the gun on himself. Amongst the victims was a 76-year old Holocaust survivor.
The university and its police has been criticized for taking 3 hours to notify students and faculties of the presence of a shooter.
On April 19, police arrested a potential copycat, Terrence Johnson, Jr., a senior at Madison School, who threatened to commit a similar crime.[1]
