WWE NXT is a professional wrestling television show produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. It serves as WWE's current developmental brand. The NXT promotion was founded in 2012 by Paul "Triple H" Levesque (the son-in-law of Vince McMahon) as a replacement for previous WWE developmental promotion Florida Championship Wrestling (which, according to WWE in 2008, was itself based on the old National Wrestling Alliance-affiliated promotion Championship Wrestling from Florida).[1] Prior to becoming a promotion in its own right, NXT originally began in 2010 as a seasonal reality show where aspiring wrestlers from FCW competed to win a contract with WWE.
