Well Water is quite simply ground water collected in quantity by a man-made device or structure. A modern well in developed countries will usually be equipped with an electric pump to supply running water. Well water is usually used in rural areas where there is no public water supply, or when someone wants water containing fewer contaminants (such as jet fuel and drugs) and free of water treatment chemicals.

There are three kinds of wells: Drilled (Artesian) Wells, Driven Wells, and Dug (surface) wells.[1]
