From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

Whitehorse is the administrative capital of the Yukon Territory. In 2006 the population was 22,898 and it accounts for nearly 75% of the population of territory.[1] Whitehorse is located on the route of the Alaska Highway and is at the terminus of the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway. Whitehorse was founded in 1898 as a trading post and staging center for the Klondike Gold Rush. Despite it's northerly location, like most of the Yukon, Whitehorse has a dry subarctic climate, and can be warmer in the winters than some Canadian prairies cities.
