Yoko Ono (born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese-born American artist and musician and the widow of John Lennon.

Art career[edit]

From May to September 2015, the Museum of Modern Art will present Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, a retrospective of her art work from 1960 to 1971.^[1]

Musical career[edit]

Ono studied piano and voice in her youth and worked with avant-garde composers John Cage and La Monte Young in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After their meeting in 1966, Ono and Lennon released several collaborative albums. Ono then embarked on a long and prolific solo career.

Political activism[edit]

A peace and human rights activist for the past five decades, Ono supported the Occupy Wall Street movement.^[2]
