Nestoridae, consisting of kea and kākā, is a family of parrots from New Zealand and Norfolk Island, Australia . They are in the superfamily Strigopoidea, which also includes the living kākāpō (Strigops habroptilus) and the fossil species Heracles inexpectatus.
The four living and recently extinct kea and kākā species are in the genus Nestor.
The genus Nelepsittacus is known from fossils from the Early Miocene Saint Bathans fauna from Otago, New Zealand.
