Short description: Genus of trees

Oreodaphne is a genus of flowering plants of the family Lauraceae. The genus includes five species^[1] of evergreen trees, distributed mostly in tropical and subtropical regions of South America, tropical Africa, and Mauritius. It is often considered to be included in Ocotea.^[2]

Oreodaphne trees sometimes are called Mountain laurels.^{[citation needed]} The fruit are succulent, partly immersed in a deep thick cup formed of the tube of the calyx.^{[citation needed]}
