Socialist realism is a style of idealized, realistic art mandated by the Soviet Union from 1932 to 1988 to promote socialism and communism. It focused on portraying revolutionary life, workers, and leaders in a clear, optimistic manner to educate the masses on communist ideology. It was the official art form in the USSR, spreading to other socialist countries.
