Manganese(II) telluride

From HandWiki - Reading time: 4 min

Manganese(II) telluride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula MnTe. It is a gray solid obtained by the reaction of the elements.

Properties

Manganese telluride crystallizes in the NaCl structure motif.[1][2]

Long thought to be antiferromagnetic, manganese telluride has been determined to be altermagnetic.[3] It has a Néel temperature of 307 K, meaning it does not need exotic temperatures to maintain its altermagnetic ordering.[4]
