Clarivate Analytics is a Philadelphia and London-based company formed in 2016, following the acquisition of Thomson Reuters' Intellectual Property and Science Business by Onex Corporation and Baring Private Equity Asia.[1] In May 13, 2019, Clarivate Analytics merged with Churchill Capital.[2]
Clarivate Analytics owns and operates a collection of subscription-based services focused largely on analytics, including scientific and academic research, patent intelligence and compliance standards, pharmaceutical and biotech intelligence trademark, domain and brand protection.[3] The services include Web of Science, Cortellis, Derwent, Derwent World Patents Index, CompuMark, MarkMonitor, Techstreet, Publons, EndNote, Kopernio, and ScholarOne.[4]

In May 13, 2019, Clarivate merged with Churchill Capital. Churchill's CEO, Jerre Stead (previous chairman and CEO of IHS Markit)[7] became Clarivate's executive chairman.[8]

Highly Cited Researchers
Clarivate Analytics publishes an annual Highly Cited Researchers list. The list recognizes "the world's most influential researchers of the past decade, demonstrated by the production of multiple highly-cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science."[15] Researchers are selected for their exceptional performance in one or more of 21 fields (those used in Clarivate Analytics Essential Science Indicators, or ESI) or across several fields. The 2019 list of Highly Cited Researchers was released on November 19, 2019.[16]
Citation Laureates
Each year since 2002, Institute for Scientific Information analysts have drawn on Web of Science publication and citation data to identify influential researchers in the research areas recognized by Nobel Prizes: Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry and Economics. Out of some 47 million papers indexed in the Web of Science since 1970, only 4,900 (or .01%) have been cited 2,000 or more times. It is from the authors of this group of papers that Citation Laureates are identified and selected. The 2019 Citation Laureates were named on September 24, 2019.[17]
Journal Citation Reports
Clarivate Analytics publishes the annual Journal Citation Reports, which identifies the world's most impactful academic journals included in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), part of the Web of Science Core Collection.
