DCKAP is an American and Indian firm that builds e-commerce store fronts for Magento, an open-source e-commerce platform, and is based in Fremont, California. DCKAP was founded in 2005 by Indian-American[1] Karthik Chidambaram.[2][3]
DCKAP was founded in Chicago, Illinois and Chennai, India in 2005. Two years later, it moved its headquarters to Fremont, California and in 2008, DCKAP set up a development center in Chennai.[4] It also has offices in San Diego.[5][6]
In 2009, the company began working with Magento, Drupal, Wordpress, and other open source technologies.[6] Three years later, it entered the mobile apps market with new iOS applications such as HomeFly[7] and Learn Alphabets & Numbers. In 2014, the firm moved into commerce, content, and consulting.[6]
DCKAP uses Magento to build online shopping portals for international brands.[8]
Under Drupal, DCKAP developed "On Campus Direct", a platform that brings students together online so that they can sell or lend books to one another. DCKAP supports initiatives by the Drupal Association and the "Drupal community." It contributes to Drupal Modules, sponsors Drupal events, and organizes regional meeting "to nurture the Drupal ecosystem."[9] DCKAP also provides human-resources services to businesses across North America.[10]
DCKAP employs Pentaho consultants who provide business intelligence to various companies and other organizations.[11] It utilizes AngularJS to help various producers of consumer merchandise to interact online with their customers.[12] It also carries out Ab Initio implementations for business clients. Its Abinitio consultants perform onsite visits, execute analyses, make recommendations, and perform implementations.[13]
Karthik Chidambaram is DCKAP's Founder and CEO. After earning a Bachelor's in Engineering from the Government College of Technology in Coimbatore, India, he earned a Master's in Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, and then continued his studies at Stanford University. Before starting DCKAP in 2005, out of his apartment in Chicago,[6] he worked as a consultant to the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company and IBM and as an Assistant Scientific Programmer for the Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, Illinois.[4][14][15]
DCKAP's clients include Comcast, the Financial Times, Bell Helmets, Charming Charlie, GIRO, and PDC Healthcare.[10][16]
