The Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g) is an all-remote American research and design UX (user interface and user experience) firm. They offer training, consulting, research reports, and free articles and research findings to help experience designers, researchers, product managers, and developers.

The company was founded in Fremont, California in 1998 by Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman.[1] In 2000, Bruce Tognazzini joined Nielsen Norman Group as a principle.[2]

Jakob retired from NN/g in March, 2023, when Kara Pernice, who joined in 2000, was appointed President and CEO on April 1, 2023. Don remains a member of the company’s Board of Directors.

The company’s work includes eyetracking research that uncovered the F-Pattern of reading, an analysis of the interface of Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system.[3][4] They have done analyses of the user experience of AI interfaces, mobile devices (including the iPad),[5][6][7] and intranets.[8]
