OrthoFX provides doctor-delivered solutions for teeth-straightening in the US. It was co-founded in 2017 by Ren Menon, Nichole Garcia, and Henry Chan. The company is headquartered in Fremont, California .[1][2]
OrthoFX manufactures 3D-printed clear aligners[3] made from proprietary polymers and custom-made retainers. It competes with traditional braces and other clear aligner companies like Invisalign and SmileDirectClub. OrthoFX is modeled on a combination of in-person doctor consultation, online delivery of clear aligners, and remote monitoring of the treatment. Each set of OrthoFX clear aligners is meant to be worn for a week. Other offerings from the company include retainer subscription programs and financing and insurance assistance.[4][5][6]
OrthoFX was co-founded in 2017 by Ren Menon, former Head of Global Product Management & Innovation at Invisalign, Nichole Garcia, former General Manager at Align Technology and Philips Oral Care, and Henry Chan, former Director of Research and Development at Invisalign. It applied for an FDA clearance in 2018 to sell in the US, which came through in 2019.[7]
OrthoFX received its first round of funding of $4 million in June 2019. On July 22, 2020, it raised Series A funding worth $13 million led by venture capital fund SignalFire in association with Unusual Ventures, Shangbay Capital and Kairos.[8][9][10][11]
