Remote is a global provider of international employment and payroll solutions. The company is based in San Francisco but its entire workforce operates remotely.[1] It provides employer of record (EOR) services, as well as contractor management, payroll, relocation services, and international hire consulting.

History

Remote was founded in 2019 by Job van der Voort and Marcelo Lebre, and has since raised four rounds of funding. Its current investors include SoftBank, Sequoia Capital, Accel, Two Sigma and Index Ventures. Remote has raised USD 300 million in its last funding round (April 2022), corresponding to a company valuation of nearly USD 3 billion.[2][3][4]

Remote fully owns legal entities in over 60 countries, and uses them to employ workers on behalf of its client companies — allowing them to have a workforce in countries where they do not own legal entities themselves.[5][6]

As of April 2022, Remote owns entities and provides Employer of Record services in the following countries: Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay. The company also used to provide these services in Belarus and Ukraine, but they have been paused in those two countries due to the Russo-Ukrainian War.[7]
