Rockset is an Americansoftware company that was founded in 2016[1] by software engineers who gained experience in web-scale data management and distributed systems at companies including Facebook, Yahoo!, Google, Oracle and VMware.[2] Its product, Rockset, is a real-timeanalyticsdatabase that enables developers to build data-driven applications while eliminating the complexity inherent in other common data infrastructures.[3] Rockset can be used to build data applications that enable intelligent decisions on real-time data, such as business decision systems, customer 360 applications, vision AI based automation, gaming leaderboards, logistics, security analytics, recommendation engines, and IoT applications.[4]
Rockset is a cloud-based, real-time analytics database that is designed to enable queries on massive, semi-structured data while eliminating operational burden.[5] Rockset is serverless and fully managed,[6] offloading the work of managing configuration, cluster provisioning, denormalization, and shard/index management.[7]Ingested data is queryable after 1–2 seconds and analytical queries against that data typically execute in milliseconds.[8] Using Rockset's Converged Index™,[9] all data is indexed three ways—column, row, and search—at the time of ingestion.[10] The SQL query optimizer examines each query and chooses an execution plan that will optimize performance.[11]
Rockset uses RocksDB, an open source key-value store to store data.[12] RocksDB was created at Facebook by Rockset co-founder and CTO Dhruba Borthakur[13] in April 2012. RocksDB is used in production systems at various web-scale enterprises including Facebook, Yahoo!,[14] and LinkedIn.[15]
Rockset is SOC 2 Type II compliant and offers encryption at rest and in flight, securing and protecting any sensitive data.[16]

Rockset is privately-held and has received three funding rounds totaling $61.5M.
