Scout Motors Inc. is an Automotive industry marque of the Volkswagen Group. The marque was established in May 2022 and is scheduled to be marketed in the United States in 2025.[1]

History

The Scout marque is named after the off-road vehicle International Harvester Scout, produced from 1961 to 1980, which Volkswagen has owned since 2020 through its American truck subsidiary Navistar International.[2]

On May 11, 2022, Volkswagen AG announced the creation of a new brand, Scout, dedicated to electric vehicles, designed, developed, manufactured and marketed in the United States.[3][4] The first two vehicles marketed from 2026 by the new brand are an SUV and a pick-up, like the American manufacturer Rivian with the R1T (Truck) and R1S (SUV) launched in 2021.[5]
