The first version of VZ Navigator, released in 2006 allowed Verizon customers to use their phone for basic GPS navigation and mapping.[1] The next version, VZ Navigator 2, also known as VZ Navigator Traffic Enhanced is nearly identical, except for inclusion of built in traffic. The main VZ Navigator app stayed the same for a few years until 2011, when VZ Navigator Release 5 was released. This version radically changed the user interface, making it more touchscreen-friendly, plus it added a new mapping service and built in Facebook integration. This was also the first version of VZ Navigator to run on Android devices
VZ Navigator received mostly positive reviews from critics, mostly praising the accurate and fast navigation.
