PayMaya Philippines, Inc., commonly referred to as PayMaya, is a Philippines financial services and digital payments company based in Metro Manila, Philippines .[1] It was founded in 2007.[2] In 2018, its parent Voyager Innovations received a $215 million investment from Tencent, KKR, and IFC. [3]
Two thirds of the population of the Philippines is unbanked, and PayMaya serves that community. PayMaya processed $1 billion in transactions in 2016.[4]
As of September 2021, it had 38 million registered users.[5]
PayMaya's e-wallet allows person-to-person money transfer via an app. Services within the app also includes bills payment, prepaid load purchase, and local bank transfer. [6]
Smart Padala is a network of 55,000 partner agent touchpoints across the Philippines and serves as last-mile financial hubs in communities, providing the unbanked and underserved access to digital services. [7]
PayMaya Enterprise provides end-to-end merchant-acquiring solutions and enables businesses to accept digital payments, whether online or in-store. [8]
PayMaya is planning to launch a fully digital bank after it was given a license to operate a digital-only bank on September 2021 by the BSP's Monetary Board. [9]
