Single use systems

From HandWiki - Reading time: 1 min

Single Use Systems (SUS) and Single use components are increasingly popular methods of pharmaceutical and biologics production. They differ from traditional Biopharmaceutical process systems in that they are disposed of after use as opposed to cleaned or CIP'd.

Key Advantages-

  • Reduced consumption of water and chemicals
  • Lower energy costs-due to reduced utility requirements
  • Little or no cleaning or cleaning validation
  • Minimized space requirements allowing for more flexible manufacturing

Many companies have adopted this platform for its ease of adapting to new product development needs and the flexibility it allows in adjusting to varying product supply and demand.
