3CS or the Cambridge Centre for Crop Science is a research institute in Cambridgeshire involved with crop science and food security.[1]

History

The 3CS collaboration began in 2015, between the University of Cambridge's Department of Plant Sciences, National Institute of Agricultural Botany and the Sainsbury Laboratory.[2] The research institute received £16.9m funding in 2017 from the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF)[3] from Research England (United Kingdom Research and Innovation or UKRI) to build a new 3CS laboratory, opening in 2020.

Structure

The Centre will be situated in the north-west of Cambridge, on the NIAB campus off Huntingdon Road. The field station will be built next to the jam factory at Histon.
