According to the Ministry official website, its task are limited to the protection and enforcement of security.[2]

Organization

The Ministry of Interior is divided into several Directorates:

  • General Security Directorate;
  • Political Security Directorate;
  • Criminal Security Directorate;
  • Counter-Narcotics Directorate;
  • Medical Services Directorate.[3]

The Ministry of Interior also have a Quick reaction force, the Syrian Special Mission Forces.
