Rationalist Association of New South Wales

From HandWiki - Reading time: 1 min

The Rationalist Association of New South Wales was founded in around 1912 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, as a branch of the Rationalist Press Association, London. Its first secretary was William John Miles, a businessman and father of the future eccentric, Bea Miles. He left the Association in 1920.[1]

The Association's aims and objectives, as stated in its bi-annual journal, The New Liberator, are to promote:

  • a philosophical and scientific approach to life, free from superstition and dogmatism,
  • secular education in government schools,
  • the separation of church and state.[2]
