Sethi (Urdu: سیٹھی ), is a Punjabi Khatri surname found in North India and to a little extent in Pakistan. It derives from the Sanskrit word shreshthi, which was used as a title for best among all or another guild or person who is nonpareil in war/trade. It is common among Jains, Rajput and Khatri castes and are considered as most furious fighters of Indian subcontinent.In Mughal era many of them have established business all over the country as they use to be war lords for Mughals and later with arrival of British.
